Meet our Founder
LE LY HAYSLIP
Le Ly Hayslip is a humanitarian, author, and peacebuilder whose life journey has inspired millions around the world.
Born in Ky La, Vietnam, she lived through the Vietnam War and later chronicled her experiences in the acclaimed memoir "When Heaven and Earth Changed Places", which was adapted into the Hollywood film "Heaven and Earth" by Oliver Stone.
In 1999, moved by her personal history and vision for healing, she founded the Global Village Foundation (GVF). Her mission was simple yet profound: to bring education, compassion, and opportunity to undeserved communities in Vietnam and Beyond.
Under her leadership, GVF has grown into a global initiative that spans Vietnam, Bali, and Australia, building portable libraries, distributing healthcare, and empowering thousands of students and families.
Le Ly's story is not only one of survival, but of transformation -- turning pain into purpose, and memory into hope for future generations. Through GVF, she continues her lifelong dedication to reconciliation, healing, and building bridges across cultures.

Empowering Students with E-Bikes
In September 2025, the Global Village Foundation proudly presented 10 brand-new electric bicycles along with essential supplies to students at the Village of Hope Orphanage in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Hospital and Social Care Outreach in Da Nang - June 2025
On June 25, 2025, the Global Village Foundation carried out its mission of compassion into the heart of Da Nang. Our team visited the Cancer Hospital, Psychiatric Hospital, and Social Protection Center, bringing food, gifts, and care packages to patients and families in need.
